Dainichi Gongen-sha
Location: 1 Nakajima, Ise City
Enshrined deity: Konohanasakuya-hime no Mikoto, Dainichi Nyorai
Founding of the shrine: 1994
Dainichi Gongen-sha is located on the river terrace (flood plain) of a prefecture-designated scenic spot, the Miyagawa embankment. It is enshrined with a stone monument made of natural stone with a height of 60 cm and a width of 35 cm. In the center of the stone monument, there is an inscription reading "Dainichi Gongen, May, 1693".
The stone monument was discovered by the residents of Miyagawa-cho in October 1983 in some bushes near the Miyagawa River.
Afterwards, the people of Miyagawa-cho cooperated to make Dainichi Gongen-sha and enshrine the monument there. Even now, it is cherished by the people around the Miyagawa embankment as a guardian deity that prevents Miyagawa from flooding.
